Where it all began
A caching diary for 2010, my first year, so quite a short diary, but a diary nevertheless.
This post really just sets up the caching diaries from subsequent years, there’s no comparison of progress because there’s no history before 2010.
2010 yielded 273 total finds from a start point towards the end of May. It was my least busy year, but then the bug had yet to take hold.
It all began when I was on a business jolly in Marrakech and the good lady wife dragged me off into a random public park to play a new game.
Obviously it was a completely new game for me, so there were no targets, no comparisons and no statistical oddities to talk about. It was also, obviously, a very easy time for finding one cache a day. There were loads within spitting distance of our home, and we had a few days where we’d go out in the evening as a family to find one or two.
Monthly Statistics
- May – 1 find
- June – 21 finds
- July – 46 finds
- August – 63 finds
- September – 32 finds
- October – 73 finds
- November – 16 finds
- December – 21 finds
Summary
So there we have it, my 2010 Caching Diary. So what did I actually achieve:
- A total of 273 finds
- 84 days ticked off the “days found” list
- No days ticked off my Shifty Fifty Challenge
- 3 countries – United Kingdom, France and Morocco, with Morocco being the first
That’s a decent enough start. I was still finding my feet as a geocacher. The world of statistics and challenges had yet to arrive on my doorstep. In fact, I was a full-on noob, as you can tell by the fact that I wrote long and involved posts about days where I only found one or two caches.
