Hot, innit?
I’d been to Crete twice before 2022. One of those was in the late 1980’s, between finishing college and starting work. The other was in 1998. So you could say that I hadn’t been for a while. Some places deserve multiple visits.
A Place to Stay
We were booked into the Panorama Village in Agia Pelagia. I got two rooms next to each other. It was an all-inclusive hotel, so ideal for when we wanted to just drift in and out without any particular schedule. The selection of food was quite good, although it could be very busy at certain times of the day. Well, during mealtimes, usually.
Getting There
We flew there. We booked the trip as a package tour, but we decided to upgrade our flights to BA from Heathrow. Of the regional airports close to us, I guess Birmingham is OK. But Stansted is a pain in the posterior to reach from our house and going through Luton is one of the most soul-destroying activities on the planet. Anyway, Heathrow is no further away (in time) for us than Birmingham or Stansted.
The Caches
As with most family holidays, it wasn’t really about caching. At least half of the days there we either went out for family time, or we did nothing in particular. So you’ll see here there’s only about 7-8 posts covering a two-week holiday. On other days there was either no caching, or not enough to be worth writing about on a caching-focussed blog.
Extras
So what extras did we do? We went to Spinalonga on one day and Knossos on another. We had a couple of days at the start and then end where we did pretty much nothing. And we spent one whole day at a water park.
