Objectives

So what’s going in my 2015 Caching Diary? 2015’s plan was probably just to do a bunch of caches. The more the better really. I ended up having my best year ever. It was helped massively by the release of a huge series of caches near the end of the year. That was the Hatley Heart Attack.

If you read my blogs regularly, you will spot a pattern in these annual diaries. I tend not to set any specific plans or objectives for geocaching. A part of this comes from my experience in 2013 of trying to complete the “Days Found” matrix. The effort and tedium of attempting that nearly made me give up. So now I do it for fun, and to fill time. If I can achieve a few milestones on the way, then all well and good.

We only managed one new country when we went on holiday to Portugal. We’d been there before, but while we were there we popped over the border for a day in Seville, thereby ticking off Spain..

Highlights

Highlights included a family holiday on the Algarve and also trips away to Dover and Snowdonia for running activities. Otherwise, most caching was done either by making trips from home, or as a result of business trips I was making down towards Basingstoke.

Monthly Statistics

So here’s a summary of days I went caching, and places I went.

  • January – 78 finds
  • February – 135 finds
  • March – 208 finds
  • April – 135 finds
  • May – 170 finds
  • June – 181 finds
  • July – 81 finds
  • August – 254 finds
  • September – 118 finds
  • October – 201 finds
  • November – 85 finds
  • December – 197 finds

Summary

So there we have it, my 2015 Caching Diary. So what did I actually achieve:

  • A total of 1,843 finds, made on 97 different days (same as 2014) – another best total so far
  • Eighteen days ticked off my Shifty Fifty Challenge
  • One day with over 100 finds and 11 with more than 50
  • One new country – Spain. This was added while we were on a family holiday in Portugal.

Another solid year of geocaching, I guess. Only one overseas trip but lots of short UK trips and a lot of big series done by venturing out from home.
