Milton Keynes
Milton Keynes was, until recently, my home town. Bizarrely though, it’s not where I found my first ever cache. Anyway, because it was my home town for most of my geocaching life, it was the go-to place for short adventures. You know, when you’re bored for a couple of hours and just want to look for a handful.
What that means in practice is that this section contains a lot of short articles from when I was a caching newbie. As I got older and more experienced, I gave up spending time on writing blog posts when I’d only been out for a handful of caches.
You may therefore see a bit of a timewarp scenario in this section. The early years (up to about 2012) are flush with lots of short articles. As time moved on, you’ll see that articles about Milton Keynes tend to be about much longer days out. They also tend to push the geographical boundary out to the whole of Milton Keynes Unitary area. In fact, a few of the posts might be partially or totally outside of Milton Keynes, but close enough to not warrant a whole section to themselves.
Why Geocaching in MK is good
Three factors make geocaching in Milton Keynes a constant source of entertainment. Firstly, much of MK is public parkland. Secondly, all those parks are managed by the Parks Trust, and they granted generic permission to set geocaches on their land. And finally, there is and always has been a fairly active community of geocachers setting and maintaining caches. A number of good friends in the town have been made through caching events and days out walking.
Over the years I have been one of the active cache setters in the city. I’ve been involved in groups or alone in the creation of some of the bigger series Milton Keynes. Where relevant, posts about my own caches are also included in this section.
