Bits of Europe I’ve visited, but not Very Often

This page is dedicated to the rest of Europe. That means all the parts of Europe that I’ve geocached in, but not frequently enough to warrant a whole page for the country. It’s therefore a mish-mash of things, but never mind.

The predominant one is Germany. I did toy with giving Germany it’s own page, but then I felt it would leave some other places looking a bit stranded. So Germany stays in the Rest of Europe section unless and until I go there a few more times. Which is something I’d like to do.

Germany so far is composed of two particular visits of significance:

  • In September 2013 Kas had a place in the 40th Berlin Marathon, and I went across with her for a long weekend.
  • In August 2014, the first ever geocaching Giga event was held in the Olympic Stadium in Munich. Me and Ami went down there on the now infamous “Gigabus” for a weekend of exhaustion.

Also in this section are a couple of random places where I made business trips – Ireland and Guernsey.

Hopefully I will be able to add a few more countries into this section. Possibly I’ll eventually be able to promote Germany to it’s own page. There’s plenty of scope. By my count, there are still around 30 European countries that I haven’t geocached in.

You’ll notice there’s whole waves of countries across Central Europe that I haven’t geocached in. A few of them, especially in “old” Yugoslavia, are places I’ve visited before I was a cacher, but not since. Others are vast areas of Eastern Europe that I’ve just never been to. Too many countries, not enough money or days of work. That’s always a problem for most people, and I’m no exception.
